Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

lite-exp

An app that let you download files from android browser.

Android stock browser cannot download files from sites protected by basic auth, it has an ancient bug: https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=1353 Can you just believe it?

Although using Chrome or Firefox can workaround this issue, other browser like dolphin still cannot download files that are protected by basic auth.

This simple app just does one thing: list the files and let user download, files can be protected by form authentication, and the index template is better than nginx's.

How to deploy

Firstly, install:

$ npm install lite-exp -g

Then command lite-exp will be available.

Then we need a configuration file, example:

{
  "rootDir": "/",
  "host": "0.0.0.0",
  "port": 12345,
  "user": "d033e22ae348aeb5660fc2140aec35850c4da997",
  "pass": "d033e22ae348aeb5660fc2140aec35850c4da997"
}

Host and port are optional, default values are 127.0.0.1 and 22222. For username and password, enter the sha1 hash of the original values.

Now we can run it:

$ lite-exp -c config.json

Embed credential in url

Username and password can be passed through query like:

http://mysexydomain.com/folder1/file2?u=xxx&p=yyy
