Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

LibXLive

Library for Xbox Live account interaction. Manipulate and fetch data from Xbox Live accounts with easy to use utility functions!

Installation

Installation is done via your favorite node package manager.

npm

npm install libxlive

yarn

yarn add libxlive

pnpm

pnpm install libxlive

Authentication

Authentication for this module is provided by the @xboxreplay/xboxlive-auth library. Kudos to Xboxreplay, the lib makes it really easy to authenticate users with no issues whatsoever.

Authenticate via username and password

import { logOn } from "libxlive"

logOn({
    username: "YOUR_USERNAME",
    password: "YOUR_PASSWORD"
}, data => {
    console.log(data); // You are now logged in!
});

Authenticate via refresh token

import { loginWithRefreshToken } from "libxlive"

loginWithRefreshToken("YOUR_REFRESH_TOKEN", data => {
    console.log(data); // You are now logged in!
});

I could explain how you can get a refresh token yourself, but the xboxlive-auth repo does a much better job at it that I could ever do. Check it out!

Using account data

Now that you've logged in, you can do a lot of fun stuff with your Xbox Live data.

Fetching User Achievements

getAllAchievements(params: XUIDLoginRequestReturn)

import { logOn, getAllAchievements } from "libxlive"

logOn({
    username: "YOUR_USERNAME",
    password: "YOUR_PASSWORD"
}, data => {
    console.log(getAllAchievements(data)); // All user achievements
});

This function gets all achievements from an Xbox Live account.

But there is a problem! This whole function is inefficient because it fetches all user achievements with no regards to pagination whatsoever. If the user has 10000 achievements it will fetch all of them. That's why we have another function that paginates everything.

getAchievementPage(params: XUIDLoginRequestReturn, pageToken?: number)

import { logOn, getAchievementPage } from "libxlive"

logOn({
    username: "YOUR_USERNAME",
    password: "YOUR_PASSWORD"
}, data => {
    console.log(getAchievementPage(data)); // First page of user achievements
});

// usage is getAchievementPage(data, continuationToken) to get more pages

This function, as called on the example, fetches only the first page of the user's achievements. Usually that means the first 36 (Microsoft could just change it).

It returns the achievement page, alongside with a continuation token. you pass the continuation token as the second parameter in the function. For the first page, there is no need for this token!
