Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Legify Namequery

A search engine on top of LevelDB for Name <-> User-ID relations. This applies to environments where users are identified by an id but still referenced by name.

Why it's so awesome and why you should use it

Namequery's .search interface gathers search-results and ranks them based on their sift3-distance to the users' query. It even reorders the query to get a better fit on the rank and is extremely fast. It's space-saving and can handle billions of entries easily. :)

Installation

npm install level-namequery

Usage

Include level-namequery and initialize it with a level-instance. If the initialization parameter is a string, namequery will try to spawn a new level-instance in the given path.

var namequery = require("level-namequery").nq;

var nq = namequery("test");

You'll most probably start by indexing a user.

nq.index("Kenan Sulayman", "userid", function () {});

Namequery will now relate "userid" to "kenan" and "sulayman". You can query the user with an easy interface:

nq.search("sul kenan", function ( _ref ) {
	// _ref is [["userid", ['kenan', 'sulayman'], 0.4354747839116936 ]]
});

Unlinking an entry is easy, too:

nq.unlink("Kenan Sulayman", "userid", function () {});

All relations to "userid" will be deleted.

Example

This will index three users and will print out the best match for the given search query.

var namequery = require("level-namequery").nq;

var query = nq("test");

query.index("Kenan Sulayman", 0xEF, function () {
	query.index("Peter Suleiman", 0xF0, function () {
		query.index("Kenen Sulaimann", 0xF1, function () {
			query.search("sul ken", function ( _ref ) {
				console.log(
					"Best match: \n1. " + _ref[0][0] +
					" indexed as: [" + _ref[0][1].join(", ") + "]" +
					"\n\nOther matches:"
				)

				_ref.slice(1).forEach(function(a, b) {
					console.log(
						(b + 1) + ".",
						a[0] + " indexed as: [" +
						a[1].join(", ") + "]"
					)
    				})
			});
		});
	});
});
