Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Kube Skrambler

Fast and complete 3x3 Rubik's cube scramble generator

This is a work in progress, this package will definitely be improved over time because I need it for another private project

I aim to have a package which can provide me random WCA scrambles easily, but also a bunch of other scrambles by providing some options.

With some options it should be possible to obtain reversed algs as scrambles, going from simply an OLL, to more complex things like a specific ZBLL with a given family, corner permutation and end rotation.

Usage

WCA

import skrambler from "kube-skrambler";

// Returns a random WCA scramble by default
const scramble = skrambler.get()

// B2 D2 L2 B' U2 B L2 R2 D2 L2 R' U2 B' D2 U' F2 R B' R'
console.log(scramble)

Note: I am not 100% sure those scrambles are totally WCA legit for now, existing scripts on the web are written by people who like to makes things unreadable, and I may or may not have taken every "rules" into account right now (in order to have a random state and not random moves scramble), scrambles are still solid for now though.

ZBLL

import skrambler from "kube-skrambler";

// Returns a random ZBLL scramble
const scramble = skrambler.get({ category: 'ZBLL' }))

// B2 D' R2 D' L' U L' U2 F2 L' D' L' D' R2
console.log(scramble)

Note: Right now only U ZBLL are available, more coming later

Options

Angle

You can force a scramble angle, mainly useful for things like ZBLL, OLL, PLL, where you want to train your recognition from every side This option is ignored for WCA scrambles

import skrambler from "kube-skrambler";

// Returns a ZBLL scramble with fixed no angle
const scramble = skrambler.get({ category: 'ZBLL', angle: 'none' }))

// Returns a ZBLL scramble with fixed y2 angle
const scramble = skrambler.get({ category: 'ZBLL', angle: 'y2' }))

More options are coming later, allowing to select specific cases.
