Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

JSE Transpiller

JSE like JSX but has statments in tags. Ligth, fast and very simple.

Install with npm

npm install jse-transpiller

Shimes

You can use the JSE with the React or transform AST into DOM elements.

How to use in browser

If you want to use JSE in to browser with React then you need to add next code after including react library like this:

<script src="https://fb.me/react-0.14.7.min.js"></script>
<script src="https://fb.me/react-dom-0.14.7.min.js"></script>
<script src="path-to-jse-transpiller/src/jse-pipe-elm.js"></script>
<script>
    JSE.shim = {name: 'react', worker: React};
</script>

Usage

Server side (build)

include transpiller for you build manager before other js transpillers. But they can drop on JSE nodes.

Client side

Include "jse-pipe-elm.js" for you project before JSE code and be happy ^_^.

Native type (HTML)

<script src="path-to-jse-transpiller/src/jse-pipe-elm.js">

RequireJS

define(['path-to-jse-transpiller/src/jse-pipe-elm.js', 'react'], function(JSE, React){
    JSE.shim = {name: 'react', worker: React}; // add shim for react
    //some code
});

ES6 to ES5 transpillers

import JSE from 'path-to-jse-transpiller/src/jse-pipe-elm.js';
import React from 'react'; // need for shim
JSE.shim = {name: 'react', worker: React}; // add shim for react

//some code

Transpiller

jseTranspiller.setPipeElmName('newNameForPipeElm');// Set custome name for pipe-elm lib.

var jsCode = jseTranspiller(codeWithJSX);

Syntax

Simple usage, same result in variable

var id = 10;
var myDiv = <div class="div-class" data-id={id}>
    for(var i = 0; i < 10; i++){
        <span id={'span-in-div-number-' + i}>
            <hr>
            <text>${i} + 1 = ${i + 1};</text>
            <hr>
        </span>
    }
</div>;

console.log(myDiv);

document.body.appendChild(div);
//or if you like use jQuery
$('body').append(myDiv)

Like components

function myComponent(index){
    return <span class={'component-number-' + index}>${index}</span>
}

var myDiv = <div class="div-class" data-id={id}>
    for(var i = 0; i < 10; i++){
        <span id={'span-in-div-number-' + i}>
            <hr>
            ${myComponent(i)}
            <text>${i} + 1 = ${i + 1};</text>
            <hr>
        </span>
    }
</div>;

console.log(myDiv);

Special

JSE designed to break JSX borders, but it has a syntax features, wich we will talk.

Text tag

You may use custome code with statements in tags, but if you need write awesome text in this place what to do in such a situation? The answer is simple: useing resurved tag with name "text".

var name = 'Alex';
var textNode = <text>In this text node you may write awesome text with all symbols that you like =). And you may use interpolation like this: "My name is ${name}".</text>;

document.appendChild(textNode);

Expression

You probably used to using the insert statements in the react like this: {expression}. The JSE is not much more difficult:

<div class={expression /* expression synax for node attributes */}>
    ${expression /* expression syntax in all tags */}
</div>

Is's all. The rest is only limited by your imagination. Have a nace projects with JSE.
