It has been almost a month since IndyCar saw a wild and chaotic start to their season, as all sorts of drama occurred in the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg. Former Formula 1 driver Marcus Ericsson was able to take advantage of a mechanical failure in Pato O’Ward’s car in the dying laps of the race, earning his fourth IndyCar victory, and first since winning last season’s Indianapolis 500.

The second-place finish was a disappointing end for O’Ward, who had led 23 laps after Scott McLaughlin and Romain Grosjean collided on Lap 74. Scott Dixon was able to take advantage and slide up for a third-place finish, with Alexander Rossi and Callum Ilott rounding out the top five.

Texas Motor Speedway has always been an exciting event on the IndyCar calendar, as the 1.5-mile track allows the machines to reach high speeds on the recently repaved track. Last season saw Josef Newgarden rally back to win by mere milliseconds to help him challenge for the championship early on.

Dixon has won at the track five times in his career, while reigning champion Will Power has finished first three times at TMS. PPG 375
