Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

ICD-10 GM Helper

A Node.js package for quickly finding the ICD-10 code of a diagnosis.

About this project

The ICD-10 GM is the German modification of the 10th revision of the international statistical classification of diseases and related health problems. This Node.js helper program was written for a german web app for managing patients, where it is important to find the ICD-10 code for a diagnosis. This package is to be implemented in the backend due to issues parsing the file in the browser.

Usage

Get all diagnoses

Import the package, then you can call the getAllDiagnosisCodes method to receive all the diagnoses codes. See example below:

import { getAllDiagnosisCodes } from 'icd10-gm';

getAllDiagnosisCodes().then((data) => {
    console.log(data);
}).catch((error) => {
    console.log(error);
});

The output structure is identical to the one shown here.

Get diagnosis code from diagnosis name

Import the package, then you can call the getICDCodeByDiagnosisName(diagnosisName) method, which takes a diagnosis (or partial diagnosis) name as the parameter and returns a promise of the possible matches as an object (with the keys name and ICDCode). See example below:

import { getICDCodeByDiagnosisName } from 'icd10-gm';

getICDCodeByDiagnosisName('hypertonie').then(data => {
    console.log(data);
}).catch((error) => {
    console.log(error)
});

To receive the following output:

[
  { name: 'Essentielle (primäre) Hypertonie', ICDCode: 'I10' },
  { name: 'Sekundäre Hypertonie', ICDCode: 'I15' },
  {
    name: 'Vorher bestehende Hypertonie, die Schwangerschaft, Geburt und Wochenbett kompliziert',
    ICDCode: 'O10'
  },
  {
    name: 'Chronische Hypertonie mit aufgepfropfter Präeklampsie',
    ICDCode: 'O11'
  },
  {
    name: 'Gestationsödeme und Gestationsproteinurie [schwangerschaftsinduziert] ohne Hypertonie',
    ICDCode: 'O12'
  },
  {
    name: 'Gestationshypertonie [schwangerschaftsinduzierte Hypertonie]',
    ICDCode: 'O13'
  },
  {
    name: 'Nicht näher bezeichnete Hypertonie der Mutter',
    ICDCode: 'O16'
  }
]

Available features

Currently, the only available features are getting the ICD code by providing a diagnosis name or getting all the diagnoses. The classification codes contain subclasses (e.g. E10.01 is a subclass of E10). For the purpose of our current app, only the main classes are needed with codes that contain three characters (e.g. E10 for Diabetes mellitus or I10 for Essentielle (primäre) Hypertonie). Further features may be added as needed.
