Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

html2object

This library is used to parse html into javascript object, or to convert javascript object into html.

This library is work on SFC file(*.vue) too.

How to use

Install

npm install html2object

and in your code:

const { html2Object, object2Html } = require("html2object");

html2Object("<div label><span>This is span</span></div>")
  .then((object) => {
    const json = JSON.stringify(object);
    console.info(json);
    // output:
    // {
    //     "root": {
    //         "__children": [
    //             {
    //                 "div": {
    //                     "label": "",
    //                     "__children": [
    //                         {
    //                             "span": {
    //                                 "__children": [],
    //                                 "__text__": "This is span"
    //                             }
    //                         }
    //                     ]
    //                 }
    //             }
    //         ]
    //     }
    // }

    // modify object property
    const anotherSpanNode = {
      span: {
        __text__: "This is another span",
        class: "class-name"
      },
    };
    object.root.__children[0].div.__children.push(anotherSpanNode);

    return object2Html(object.root);
  })
  .then((html) => {
    console.info(html);
    // output:
    // <div label>
    //     <span>
    //         This is span
    //     </span>
    //     <span class="class-name">
    //         This is another span
    //     </span>
    // </div>
  });

Note

  1. The each node is builded as this construct:
{
    tagName: {
        attribute1Key: attribute1Value,
        attribute2Key: attribute2Value,
        ...
        __children: [
            // children node is here.
        ]
    }
}
  1. The root Node is always wraped by 'root' node. Like this:
{
    "root": {
        "__children": [
            {
                // Your actual Node is here.
            }
        ]
    }
}

so you should be access your actual node by this: jsobject.root.__children[0].

↑ That's really stupid.

  1. This library consists of two parts.
  • The html to object part is implemented by 'htmlparser2'.
  • The object to html part is implemented by 'fast-xml-parser'.

Because of the library 'fast-xml-parser' is focus to parse xml. Which parse html have a lot of problem. So I have to change the implement of html parse.

Write in 2021-01-04:I found a very powerful library that very similar with html2object in today, I'm very puzzled why I did't find this library in start. This powerful library is parse5. Please try it in deed. But parse5 can't replace html2object totally. html2object is use to parse *.vue file, It can retain any original property, such as 'v-else' 'scoped' and so on. But parse5 would be serialize 'v-else' as 'v-else=""'.
