Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

homer

A dynamic dns server written in node.js

Installation

homer can be installed with npm:

$ npm install -g homer

Running the server

$ sudo homer start -d 53 -l 3000
Server listening on HTTP host 127.0.0.1:3000 and DNS port 53

Registering your domain name with homer

$ homer register -h myhostname.com -p mypassword -s homerserver.com -l 3000
Registration successful

$ homer update -h myhostname.com -p mypassword -s homerserver.com -l 3000
IP Address Update successful

Querying your domain name with homer

$ dig @homerserver.com -p 53 a myhostname.com
