Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

homebridge-pioneer-avr-2025

A Homebridge plugin that allows you to declare your Pioneer AVR as a TV in HomeKit. This project is ready for Node 22 or lower, Homebridge 2 or lower and is forked from homebridge-pioneer-avr.

This plugin is specifically designed for Pioneer models that utilize the PRONTO protocol (e.g., VSX-922). It is not intended for newer models that use the ISCP protocol (e.g., VSX-LX304). For those newer models, we recommend using the homebridge-onkyo-pioneer plugin or checking the "Alternatively" section below.

npm license PRs Issues

Features

This plugin enables various controls for your AVR, including:

  • Turn AVR On/Off
  • Select active input in Home app
  • Change Volume (as Lightbulb) in Home app
  • Save visibility status for inputs in Home app
  • Rename inputs in Home app
  • Control AVR with Remote on iOS
  • Remote-Key "Play/Pause" (iOS) to toggle between EXTENDED STEREO and PRO LOGIC 2 MOVIE
  • Auto discover inputs
  • No code modifications are necessary for the plugin to function correctly. Give it a try!

Installation

  1. Install Homebridge: Homebridge Installation Guide
  2. Install the homebridge-pioneer-avr-2025 plugin using Homebridge UI.
  3. Add the configuration as shown in the example below or in sample-config.json, adjusting the IP address and port as needed.

Alternatively:

  1. Install the Homebridge framework using npm install -g homebridge
  2. Install homebridge-pioneer-avr-2025 using npm i homebridge-pioneer-avr-2025
  3. Update your configuration file. See sample-config.json in this repository for a sample.

When switching from the homebridge-pioneer-avr plugin to homebridge-pioneer-avr-2025, it is recommended to remove the "homebridge-pioneer-avr" plugin and the existing accessories under "Accessories" in the Homebridge settings, or reset Homebridge entirely, as well as to reboot the iOS devices.

Accessory Configuration Example

Below is a sample configuration for your accessory:

"accessories": [
    {
        "accessory": "pioneerAvrAccessory",
        "model": "VSX-922",
        "name": "MyAVR",
        "description": "AV Receiver",
        "maxVolumeSet": 70,
        "host": "192.168.178.99",
        "port": 23
    }
]

| Key | Value | | -----------: | :------------------------- | | accessory | don't change | | model | Custom input, can remain | | name | Custom input, can remain | | description | Custom input, can remain | | maxVolumeSet | Optional input, can remain | | minVolumeSet | Optional input, can remain | | host | needs to be accurate | | port | needs to be accurate |

port:
The port used for Telnet to connect to your receiver.
If port 23 does not work, try port 8102.
Alternatively, enable Web Interface (see user manual) and then try opening in your web browser something like: http://vsx-922.local/1000/port_number.asp or
http://192.168.178.99/1000/port_number.asp
... to find the port number.

maxVolumeSet:
A number between 0 and 100; for example, 60 means 60% of the max volume.
100 = -0dB (i.e., 185 = No Limit),
60 = -16dB,
0: disables the volume as brightness feature
Defaults to 80 if undefined.
A value of 60 has worked well for me.

Note: The difference between maxVolumeSet and minVolumeSet should be at least 20.
Both only affects the volume as a brightness feature, not the remote.

minVolumeSet:
A number between 0 and 100; for example, 30 means 30% of the max volume.
Defaults to 20 if undefined.
This setting is only active in combination with maxVolumeSet.
A value of 35 has worked well for me.
