Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Calculate Heybox URL Hash

Heybox is a famous Chinese gamer community. There are lots of useful articles and game reviews on this site. To protect their valuable assets, Heybox uses relatively complex anti-crawler algorithm to sign every request. They really do a great job on this algorithm, so I spend some time to study how it works and publish this package as a way to share my learnings to everyone.

In this package, only hkey hash algorithm is published by calculate(url). It's not enough to use this hash to fetch any Heybox's API, which requires more hashes and per-request nonce for every API call. So I think it may be OK to make this package public available on NPM.

To Heybox dev team: If my understanding is not true, please contact me by opening new issues in this project and let me know your concern.

Usage

To add hkey on a url, call calculate(url).

import { calculate } from 'heybox-url';

const url = calculate('https://api.xiaoheihe.cn/foo/bar?k1=v1&k2=v2');

// hkey and _time are added in the query string.
url === 'https://api.xiaoheihe.cn/foo/bar?k1=v1&k2=v2&hkey=KM6MP94&_time=1693395090';

API

const enum HKeyAlgorithm {
  Plain = 'plain', // No nonce.
  Web = 'web',
  Android = 'android',
}

interface HKeyOptions {
  timestamp?: number; // Timestamp in seconds. Default to current time.
  nonce?: string; // Nonce. Default to a random string.
  algorithm?: HKeyAlgorithm; // Algorithm. Default to 'plain'.
}

/**
 * Calculates hash and returns a new url with hash parameters in query string.
 * The url must be a Heybox API url.
 * @param {string} url Heybox API url.
 * @param {HKeyOptions | undefined} options Options to customize hkey algorithm.
 * @returns {string}
 */
export declare function calculate(url: string, options?: HKeyOptions): string;
