Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

i did like what del toro did with the golden army, and it looked really cool, but the overall tone of the film doesn't allow for much. hellboy's relationship with liz is supposed to be the heart of the film, and it starts off being very interesting, but it loses all steam pretty early on. as well as the tone of the film being off, the film really didn't work for me as a whole. i think del toro had a very clear vision for what he wanted to do with this film, but it never really gelled with what he was trying to do with it. the climax of the film is supposed to be the reveal of the true villain, but it felt like it came out of nowhere, and never felt like it was building to that reveal. it seemed to be more about the relationship between hellboy and liz.

hellboy's interaction with the wink feels like a lot of the dialogue in the film is there just to set up the next scene. a lot of that is due to the fact the characters just feel very hollow and it's hard to care about them. hellboy is a more interesting character than any of the supporting characters in the film, and that makes the films tonal shift that much more jarring. del toro seems to be going for a more serious tone with this film, but never really pulls it off.

hellboy himself, after being dosed by that same alien toxin in the first film, is fading. the b.p.r.d. and his new partner, liz, set out to save the day. bruce campbell is absolutely hilarious in the role of agent frank, and david hyde pierce is delightfully energetic as the president of the united states. i have to admit that the character liz and her analysis of the situation with her x-files sense of humor help the film tremendously. i love it when films can comment on pop culture or show off in clever ways that work to make the narrative richer. the special effects are also top-notch, and the film has some of the best monsters youll see in a film this year. 84d34552a1
