Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

hafas-export-stops-by-coordinates

Exports stops from HAFAS by bounding box coordinates.

Usage

const exportStops = require("hafas-export-stops-by-coordinates");

const urlTemplate = "https://www.rmv.de/auskunft/bin/jp/query.exe/dny?performLocating=2&tpl=stop2json&look_stopclass=2147483647&look_minx={minx}&look_miny={miny}&look_maxx={maxx}&look_maxy={maxy}";
const encoding = "UTF-8";
const minx = 5;
const miny = 47;
const maxx = 15;
const maxy = 56;
const includeStopIdPrefixes = null;
const excludeStopIdPrefixes = [51, 54, 80, 81, 84, 85, 87, 88];

exportStops(urlTemplate, encoding, minx, miny, maxx, maxy, includeStopIdPrefixes, excludeStopIdPrefixes);

Parameters:

  • urlTemplate - template of the query.exe/dny HAFAS endpoint. Placeholders {minx}, {miny}, {maxx}, {maxy} will be replaced with bounding box coordinates.
  • encoding - encoding of the responses.
  • minx, miny, maxx, maxy - coordinates of the bounding box to start with.
  • excludeStopIdPrefixes - prefixes of stop ids which should be excluded. Last 5 digits of the stop id will be dropped when comparison. For example 80 matches 8004009.

The script starts from the provided bounding box and requests stops. If no stops are returned or if the result is too large (more that 200 stops), the bounding box is divided into four smaller equal bounding boxes which are recursively queried in turn. This is repeated until the query produces adequate results or the bounding box gets too small (less that 0.25 in both dimensions).

The script roduces CSV output in the following format:

"stop_id","stop_name","stop_lon","stop_lat","stop_code"
"9900088","P+R Seulberg",8.646032,50.241988,""

Results are written to the standard output.
