Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Guess the Number Game

A simple command-line game where you try to guess a random number between 1 and 100.

Description

Welcome to the Guess the Number game! In this game, the program will randomly select a number between 1 and 100, and your task is to guess the correct number. The program will provide feedback after each guess, helping you narrow down your choices until you guess the correct number.

How to Play

  1. Clone or download this repository to your local machine.

  2. Open your terminal and navigate to the directory where the game files are located.

  3. Make sure you have Node.js installed on your machine. You can download it from nodejs.org.

  4. Install the required dependencies using the following command:

    npm install
  5. Start the game by running the following command:

    tsc guessNumberGame.ts node guessNumberGame.js
  6. The program will greet you and provide instructions.

  7. Enter your guess when prompted. The program will inform you if your guess is too high or too low.

  8. Keep making guesses until you correctly guess the target number. The program will display the number of attempts it took you to guess correctly.

Code Overview

The game is implemented using JavaScript and the inquirer library for user input. Here's a brief overview of how the code works:

  • The program generates a random target number between 1 and 100.
  • It prompts the user to enter their guess.
  • The user's input is validated, and feedback is provided based on their guess.
  • The user continues guessing until they correctly guess the target number.

Feel free to explore the code and customize it as you see fit. Have fun playing and learning from this simple game implementation!
