grunt-git-release
Release a new version of your Git project
Getting Started
This plugin requires Grunt ~0.4.1
If you haven't used Grunt before, be sure to check out the Getting Started guide, as it explains how to create a Gruntfile as well as install and use Grunt plugins. Once you're familiar with that process, you may install this plugin with this command:
npm install grunt-git-release --save-dev
Once the plugin has been installed, it may be enabled inside your Gruntfile with this line of JavaScript:
grunt.loadNpmTasks('grunt-git-release');
Run
grunt release
By default, this will
- increment the patch version (ex: from 1.2.0 to 1.2.1) in the package.json file using the Semantic Versioning specification
- commit the package.json file
- create a Git tag for the new version
- push to the remote server
You can also increment the minor version (ex: from 1.2.0 to 1.3.0)
grunt release:minor
Or the major version (ex: from 1.2.0 to 2.0.0)
grunt release:major
Or force a specific version
grunt release:1.3.0-alpha
Contributing
In lieu of a formal styleguide, take care to maintain the existing coding style. Add unit tests for any new or changed functionality. Lint and test your code using Grunt.
