Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

quantum computers are special computers made from quantum mechanics. unlike their classical counterparts, quantum computers must use quantum mechanics to do computations. though there are some thought experiments about quantum mechanical computers, most people think classical computers will retain their supremacy for many years to come. on the other hand, the gap between classical and quantum computers has been constantly growing. as a result, the field of quantum computation has attracted a number of scientists and engineers, and perhaps we are standing at the crossroads of a revolution in computing. one thing is certain: by taking advantage of the unique nature of the quantum world, quantum computing offers the potential to solve some problems more efficiently than classical computers.

we begin with very simple circuits: a pushbutton, a resistor, and a capacitor. it is not immediately clear what the resistor is supposed to do, but we know from classical physics that the circuit must have a stable state: the capacitor should be charged, and the capacitor should remain charged. the capacitor can be charged by wire or by electron flow, and the capacitor is the simplest electric circuit, in some sense, but it is not an immediately useful circuit. we will see in the next few lectures that some circuits are more useful than others, but we will start by considering the capacitor. furthermore, we can keep the capacitor safe and well in service for a long time if we use a sufficient number of charge carriers. the capacitor is one of the simplest circuits, and the ground symbol in a circuit is likely to be well understood, but it is not a particularly useful circuit. we will introduce useful circuits and see why they have useful applications. we will not quite discuss applications before delving into quantum computers, but the reader should keep in mind that many of the classical circuits will be useful in the quantum world. 84d34552a1
