Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

gobble-ractive-components

Compile a folder tree of ractive components in multi-file format (.html, .css and .js) into a flat single file format that includes a components.js file that imports and registers all processed components onto Ractive.components;

Installation

First, you need to have gobble installed - see the gobble readme for details. Then,

npm i -D gobble-flatten

Usage

Components need to be in folder with same name as filenames without prefix:

|- components
    |- foo-bar
        |- bizz-buzz
            |- bizz-buzz.css
            |- bizz-buzz.html
            |- bizz-buzz.js
        |- foo-bar.css
        |- foo-bar.html
        |- foo-bar.js
    |- widget
        |- widget.css
        |- widget.html
        |- widget.js

is transformed to:

|- bizz-buzz.html
|- components.js
|- foo-bar.html
|- widget.html

where components.js is:

import Ractive from "ractive";
import C0 from "./bizz-buzz";
import C1 from "./foo-bar";
import C2 from "./widget";
Ractive.components['bizz-buzz'] = C0;
Ractive.components['foo-bar'] = C1;
Ractive.components['widget'] = C2;

Each components part ('html', 'css', 'js') is optional and can be omitted.

The folder/file name is used for the component name in the components registry.

gobblefile.js

const components = gobble('src/components')
	// scss and es6 js can be transpiled prior to combining:
	.transform( 'sass-file' )
	.transform('babel', {
		sourceMaps: true,
		blacklist: ['es6.modules', 'strict']
	})
	// combine into single file and create "components.js"
	.transform( 'ractive-components' )
	// pass to gobble-ractive to compile into js:
	.transform('ractive', { type: 'es6' });

// non-component js:
const js = gobble( 'src/js' )
    .transform('babel', {
		sourceMaps: true,
		blacklist: ['es6.modules', 'strict']
	});

// bundle as siblings of components, which means
// imports in components can treat js as same directory
const bundle = gobble([ js, components ]).transform( 'rollup', {
  entry: 'index.js',
  dest: 'bundle.js',
  format: 'umd',
  sourceMaps: true,
});

Then require output file components.js in app.js or whatever your entry point is to register all components globally on Ractive.components.

Tests

Uses gobble-test example based testing. Run via:
