Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Daz 3d, like Second Life, gives you an obstacle course to enter its doors and that gives you a taste of what it has to offer. The fur style creator is built as a plugin for Daz Studio, allowing you to create custom looking furs without starting from scratch, or mixing and matching pre-existing furs. It is a fairly detailed alternative to the hair creator in the game and has a similar interface. The interface has five tabs. One of them is dedicated to customization of the style's length, color, length, color, skin tone, wool density, blend and (unwanted) tufts. The largest tab is 'Main'. Here the stylist can choose from a set of presets, each with several different characteristics, such as 'lacy', 'clumpy', 'furry', and 'dense'. The 'Main' section is where the magic happens. Here the stylist can choose their fur type ('wool', 'hair', 'curl', 'sheat', 'sparkle', 'radioactive' etc) and set the hair color, skin tone, length, blend, and other variables. This is followed by a combo box that allows the stylist to choose a set of variables and a set of multiple choice boxes, and the last section is to add some tufts.

Other similar programs for Daz Studio are the Furver Creation programs and Hair Creator. Furver Creation offers a range of presets similar to those in the Garibaldi plugin, but also gives you full control over all the variables in the Main tab. Hair Creator gives you a few more features for adjusting the hair, but it is not as complicated as the Garibaldi plugin. In my opinion, Hair Creator looks a lot like Filament, which is the piece of software being developed by MSITU for creating and enhancing morphs for use in Second Life. MSITU is working on the development of the open source plugin for Daz Studio, and Filament is one of the included tools. 84d34552a1
