5. content of training (by patient and carer): the participants in the intervention group received the training manual and a dvd containing the 19 teaching episodes. the dvd was developed by dr curry blake and dr myrna weissman. each of the 19 teaching episodes includes 4-6 minutes of animated clip sequences, which are designed to guide the viewer through the content of the teaching episode. the training was administered by a trainer and an assistant. the group leader spent 1-2 hours with each patient/carer in her home to review the treatment plan and set up a contract. participants were also encouraged to attend 2 group meetings per week of 2-4 hours duration each, and also attended 1 individual meeting with the group leader per week 84d34552a1
