Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Formless-Forms

Angular component library for dynamic form creation with validation without the need of template forms.

npm npm License

About

Formless Forms are a small Angular components library with the objective of providing components that can be combined in any fashion to create dynamic forms with validation that do not require html template forms. Formless Forms are flexible, dynamic, and easy to implement.

Demo

Demo Site: includes installation instructions, individual component demos with sample code and property definitions for the APIs.

Usage Example

To get started please npm install formless-forms and then include the modules into your application. Angular example below:

import { FormlessInputModule } from 'formless-forms';
@NgModule({
  declarations: [
    AppComponent
  ],
  imports: [
    BrowserModule,
    FormlessInputModule
  ],
  providers: [],
  bootstrap: [AppComponent]
})
export class AppModule { }

Features

All components are available in separate modules so that you can load only what you need with minimal code.

  • Elements
    • Input Component - from FormlessInputModule
    • Card Component - from FormlessCardModule
    • Button Component - from FormlessButtonModule
    • Toggle Component - from FormlessToggleModule
    • Slider Component - from FormlessSliderModule
    • Checkbox Component - from FormlessCheckboxModule
    • Radio Component - from FormlessRadioModule

Deployment

Steps required for new update to the npm pacakge

  • Update: make appropriate changes/additions to the package elements
  • ChangeLog: add/log your changes with the CHANGELOG.md and be sure to update the package.json version
  • Demo: consider the updates required for the demo site to ensure it is up to date, if necessary you will also need to ng build --prod and then push to build to the formless-forms netlify account.
  • Save: git add ., git commit -m with message specifying the changes, git push origin master
  • Deploy to NPM: npm run packagr, then make sure you are logged into your NPM and run npm publish dist

TO DO

We are still in the early development of this library and there are many considerations to take into account.

  • Additional components to consider such as dropdown, searchbar, modals, and much much more
  • Adding accessibility to all components
  • Testing and completing backwards compatibility for old browsers
  • Possible: add phone formatting for input component
  • Create dropdown component
    • allow ability to include a search/filter of the dropdown as the top row
    • add use of arrows/enter to select from dropdown
    • maybe use focus or otherwise when tab selected to open the dropdown (for greater accessibility)
