Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

FogJS is a port of Fog (for F#). The main project page for Fog can be found at http://fogjs.azurewebsites.net/.

FogJS

FogJS brings the cloud down to earth by adding a few features and abstractions to the Node.js Windows Azure API.

Building Azure apps with FogJS that need to interact with Azure Table Storage, Blob Storage, and the Service Bus is very easy. The examples that follow use this approach. Fog also provides more fine-grained interaction if that is desired, but adds a few features such as promises (with the help of Q.js, which is also under an MIT license). See the integration tests for examples.

Syntax

Blob Storage

Thanks to Q.js, you can use the typical API methods while also avoiding nested callbacks. Here's a quick example:

You can simplify things even more by taking advantage of convention to eliminate the need to create a blobServer and create the container. This allows the previous example to be condensed to this:

Here's an example of chaining together a create, followed by a get, followed by a delete.

Table Storage

Table Storage has features similer to those already described for Blob Storage. The simple syntax looks like this:

Service Bus

Interacting with the Azure Service Bus via Fog.js is a snap. In addition to providing versions of each function that return promises, the service bus API allows you to publish or recieve message without having to first create the queues. Using topics and subscriptions is also very easy.

Here's an example:
