fermata-flickr
NOTE: the currently-published [email protected] already bundles this plugin, this is split out for an upcoming version!
This is a Flickr API plugin for Fermata. It takes care of the fussy authorization header stuff, leaving you with raw unfettered Fermata-style direct usage of the bona fide Flickr API.
Setup
This is a standard Fermata plugin, so please see that documentation or take a look at the the Fermata CouchDB plugin docs for example setup.
Example usage
Take a look at "examples/file_upload.js" in this repository for a more complete example (including prompts for some OAuth token flow), but here's a summary:
var user_api = flickr({
client: APP_TOKEN, client_secret: APP_SECRET,
token: USER_TOKEN, token_secret: USER_SECRET
});
// fetch your favorites information
user_api.rest({method:"flickr.favorites.getList"}).get(function (e,d) {
if (e) console.error(e, d);
else console.log("Favorites:", d);
});
// upload the FILE above into your Flickr account
user_api.upload.post({'Content-Type':"multipart/form-data"}, {
photo: {name:"Fermata upload example.", type:"image/jpeg", data:require('fs').readFileSync(FILE)},
description: "This image was uploaded using <https://github.com/natevw/fermata-flickr>!"
}, function (e,d) {
if (e) console.error(e, d);
else console.log("Photo upload:", d);
});
Plugin API
The following documentation assumes this plugin has been registered into 'fermata'
with the name 'flickr'
:
fermata.flickr(oauth_credentials)
— Returns a "URL proxy" object for Flickr's API (at "https://secure.flickr.com/services"). You must pass an object foroauth_credentials
including at least your app'sclient
andclient_secret
values (for access to their public and OAuth flow APIs) and possibly atoken
andtoken_secret
for a user (for APIs requiring access on their behalf).
Behind the scenes, this plugin adds a few helpful headers and papers over a couple OAuth nuances for you. But beyond that, it's simply standard Fermata usage as you talk to Flickr's standard API — by design!
