Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

fdboost

Build Status Dependency Status Code Climate npm version

fdboost is a collection of utilities for FoundationDB enhancing the functionality of the FoundationDB node.js bindings.

Includes utilities for encoding tuples with strongly typed values and a high performance range key counting method (thanks to Christophe Chevalier @Doxsense).

This module is evolving speedily and further documentation and tests will be included over the coming days.

All contributions are welcome.

API activation

fdboost has 3 alternative methods of activation, each of which returns a functionally enhanced version of a typical fdb module.

Simple

var fdb = require('fdboost')();

Version

var fdb = require('fdboost')(300);

// or

var fdb = require('fdboost').apiVersion(300);

Injected

var fdb = require('fdb').apiVersion(300);
require('fdboost').use(fdb);

Throws an error if an fdb module is not passed to the use() function.

Enhancements

API activation surgically grafts a collection of new functions and namespaces onto carefully targetted facets of the fdb module prototype chain.

Encoding objects

fdb.encoding.encode(value, [prefix])

fdb.encoding.decode(buffer, [prefix])

Database objects

Database.countKeys(options, [callback])

Database.getLastKey(keyPrefix, [callback])

Transaction objects

Transaction.countKeys(options, [callback])

Transaction.getLastKey(keyPrefix, [callback])

RangeReader objects

A RangeReader object provides an elegant method of reading data using the node.js EventEmitter as an alternative to the LazyIterator model.

class RangeReader(options)

  • options.begin (Buffer|fdb.KeySelector) First key in the reader range.
  • [options.end=undefined] (Buffer|fdb.KeySelector) Last key in the reader range.
  • [options.limit=undefined] (number) Only the first limit keys (and their values) in the range will be returned.
  • [options.reverse=undefined] (boolean) Specified if the keys in the range will be returned in reverse order
  • [options.streamingMode=undefined] (iterator|want_all|small|medium|large|serial|exact) fdb.streamingMode property that permits the API client to customize performance tradeoff by providing extra information about how the iterator will be used.
  • [options.nonTransactional=false] (boolean) Reset transaction on expiry and start.
  • [options.snapshot=false] (boolean) Defines whether range reads should be snapshot reads.

RangeReader.execute([tr], iteratorType)

  • [tr=null] (object) Transaction.
  • iteratorType (string) Value can be batch, each or array.
