express-charset

Set Content-Type: text/xxxx; charset=xxxx for HTML/CSS/XML files.

SYNOPSIS

const express = require("express");
const {expressCharset} = require("express-charset");

const app = express();
app.use(expressCharset());
app.use(express.static("htdocs"));
app.listen(3000);

This does not "guess" character encoding but detect it declared at the first 1KB of response content body.

$ grep charset htdocs/shift_jis/html5.html 
  <meta charset="Shift_JIS">

$ curl -sv http://127.0.0.1:3000/shift_jis/html5.html 2>&1 | grep -i content-type:
< content-type: text/html; charset=Shift_JIS

$ grep charset htdocs/euc-jp/style.css 
@charset "EUC-JP";

$ curl -sv http://127.0.0.1:3000/euc-jp/style.css 2>&1 | grep -i content-type:
