Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

EvangelizoJS

EvangelizoJS is a simple NodeJS wrapper for feed.evangelizo.org.

You can:

  • Obtain readings
  • Saints
  • Feast

For a given date. Please refer to feed.evangelizo.org for explanation on these limits (such as fetching someting from more than thirty days ago or into the future).

To install

npm install --save evangelizo

Then load it to your app:

import evangelizo from 'evangelizo';

To run tests:

npm test

Examples

To obtain the Saint of the day:

evangelizo.getSaint().then((str) => {
  console.log(str);
}, (err) => {
  console.log(err);
});
//#=> St. Marguerite Bourgeoys (1620-1700)

You can also specify a date and language:

evangelizo.getSaint({ date: Date.(2017, 01, 01), lang: 'SP'}).then((str) => {
  console.log(str);
}, (err) => {
  console.log(err);
});
//#=> Beatos Juan y Renato Lego

The date can also be entered in numeric value

evangelizo.getSaint({ date: 20170101, lang: 'SP'}).then((str) => {
  console.log(str);
}, (err) => {
  console.log(err);
});
//#=> Beatos Juan y Renato Lego

For readings and titles you must specify a content variable, which can be:

  • FR: First Reading
  • PS: Psalm
  • SR: Second Reading
  • GSP: Gospel
evangelizo.getReading('FR').then((str) => {
  console.log(str);
}, (err) => {
  console.log(err);
});

//#=> The holy Spirit says: "Oh, that today you would hear his voice, 'Harden not your hearts as at the rebellion in the day of testing in the desert, where your ancestors tested and tried me and saw my works for forty years. Because of this I was provoked with that generation and I said, "They have always been of erring heart, and they do not know my ways." As I swore in my wrath, "They shall not enter into my rest."'" Take care, brothers, that none of you may have an evil and unfaithful heart, so as to forsake the living God. Encourage yourselves daily while it is still "today," so that none of you may grow hardened by the deceit of sin. We have become partners of Christ if only we hold the beginning of the reality firm until the end.

Available functions are:

getSaint();
getFeast()
getLiturgicTitle();
getReading();
getReadingLt(); // Long title: Letter to the Hebrews 3:7-14.
getReadingSt(); // Short title: Heb. 3:7-14.
