Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Erdnes Development Tools

Erdnes offers a comprehensive suite of development tools to streamline various tasks in your projects, designed to enhance your development experience. Below, we outline the general tools provided by Erdnes.

Binary Check File Detector

The fileDetector is a versatile utility that allows you to determine the file extension of an input file. Incorporate it into your project as follows:

Importing the fileDetector Function

import { fileDetector } from "erdnes";

Example Usage in server

const filpath = "example.png"
const result = await fileDetector(filepath);

// example result
/*
 {
    ext: "jpg",
    type: "image"
 }
*/

QueueRunner - Execute Tasks Sequentially

The QueueRunner class empowers you to execute tasks one by one in a specified order. This can be particularly useful when you need to ensure that a series of tasks are completed sequentially.

Importing the QueueRunner Class

import { QueueRunner } from "erdnes";

Example Usage

const queue = new QueueRunner([1, 2, 3, 4, 5], async (data) => {
  return doSomething(data); // Collect your results
});

const listener = queue.start(); // Start executing tasks one by one

listener.on("end", (result: ResultType[]) => {
  // Here, you have access to all the results in an array
  result.data;
});

QueueRunner - Custom Concurrency

The QueueRunner class allows you to customize the concurrency of task execution, empowering you to optimize performance for your project.

Example Usage

To execute tasks with a custom concurrency level, simply provide the desired concurrency as an argument when creating a QueueRunner instance. For example, to execute four tasks concurrently:

const queue = new QueueRunner(queue, yourTaskFunction, 4); // Execute 4 tasks concurrently

This feature offers flexibility and efficiency, allowing you to adapt task execution to your project's specific needs. Fine-tune concurrency for better resource utilization and performance optimization.

This concise section explains how to control concurrency using the QueueRunner class with an example for reference.

Barcode Scanner

Erdnes now includes a powerful barcode scanner to facilitate easy integration of barcode scanning into your projects.

Example usage

import { scanIt } from "erdnes";

const filepath = "example-barcode.png";

scanIt(filepath).then(barcodeResult => {
  console.log(barcodeResult);
});

Erdnes Development Tools provide a convenient way to handle file detection and execute tasks sequentially in your projects. These tools can help you enhance your development process and improve the user experience of your applications. Explore these tools to boost productivity and streamline your project's development workflow.
