Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

<EraPicker
  defaultDate={new Date()}
  datePicked={datePicked}
  setDatePicked={setDatePicked}
  setShowCalendar={setShowCalendar}
  mode="timestamp"
  options={options}
/>

In range_date mode, the configuration would look like this:

<EraPicker
  defaultDate={new Date()}
  startDate={startDate}
  setStartDate={setStartDate}
  endDate={endDate}
  setEndDate={setEndDate}
  setShowCalendar={setShowCalendar}
  mode="range_date"
  options={options}
/>

Note: datePicked, setDatePicked, setShowCalendar, startDate, and endDate should all be managed as state variables in your React component to ensure proper functionality.

Basic Usage

import EraPicker from "era-picker";
import { View, StyleSheet, Button } from "react-native";
import { useState } from "react";
import { format } from "date-fns";

export default function App() {
  const [showCalendar, setShowCalendar] = useState(false);
  const [datePicked, setDatePicked] = useState(false);

  return (
    <View style={styles.container}>
      <Button
        onPress={() => setShowCalendar((prevValue) => !prevValue)}
        color="#302f34"
        title={
          datePicked
            ? format(datePicked, "dd/MM/yyyy HH:mm:ss")
            : "Selecione uma data"
        }
      />

      {showCalendar && (
        <EraPicker
          defaultDate={new Date()}
          datePicked={datePicked}
          setDatePicked={setDatePicked}
          setShowCalendar={setShowCalendar}
          mode="timestamp"
        />
      )}
    </View>
  );
}

const styles = StyleSheet.create({
  container: {
    justifyContent: "center",
    alignItems: "center",
    flex: 1,
    position: "relative",
  },
});

options Parameters

The options object allows for various customizations within the EraPicker component. Below are the available parameters:

  • date_format: (string) - Specifies the format for displaying dates. Follows the date-fns format pattern. Default is 'yyyy/MM/dd'.

    date_format: "dd-MM-yyyy";
  • timestamp_format: (string) - Specifies the format for displaying timestamps, including date and time. Follows the date-fns format pattern. Default is 'yyyy/MM/dd HH:mm:ss'.

    timestamp_format: "MM/dd/yyyy HH:mm";
  • time_format: (string) - Specifies the format for displaying time. Follows the date-fns format pattern. Default is 'HH:mm:ss'.

    time_format: "HH:mm";
  • months: (array of strings) - A list of month names to be displayed in the picker. Default is an array of English month names.

    months: ['January', 'February', 'March', ...]
  • daysOfWeek: (array of strings) - A list of day names to be displayed in the picker. Default is an array of English day names.

    daysOfWeek: ['Sunday', 'Monday', 'Tuesday', ...]
  • translation: (object) - Provides translations for specific labels within the picker. You can define your own labels in different languages.

    translation: {
        Date: 'Fecha',
        Time: 'Hora',
        Cancel: 'Cancelar',
        Confirm: 'Confirmar'
      }

Example Usage

Here’s an example of how you might configure the options object:

const options = {
  date_format: "dd/MM/yyyy",
  timestamp_format: "dd/MM/yyyy HH:mm",
  time_format: "HH:mm",
  months: [
    "Janeiro",
    "Fevereiro",
    "Março",
    "Abril",
    "Maio",
    "Junho",
    "Julho",
    "Agosto",
    "Setembro",
    "Outubro",
    "Novembro",
    "Dezembro",
  ],
  daysOfWeek: ["Dom", "Seg", "Ter", "Qua", "Qui", "Sex", "Sáb"],
  translation: {
    Date: "Data",
    Time: "Hora",
    Cancel: "Cancelar",
    Confirm: "Confirmar",
  },
};

You can then pass this options object to the EraPicker component:

<EraPicker options={options} />
