Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

ember-fontawesome-css

Quick and dirty Font Awesome 5+ CSS Ember add-on.

This packages the free Font Awesome 5 fonts+css as an Ember add-on, so that they can be used in your Ember app.

Note that this will (hopefully) become obselete when the official ember-fontawesome project supports the non-js version of the font library.

Based on code from https://github.com/martndemus/ember-font-awesome.

Compatibility

  • Ember.js v3.4 or above
  • Ember CLI v2.13 or above
  • Node.js v8 or above

Installation

ember install ember-fontawesome-css

Usage

Add this package to your package.json along with whatever version of the fontawesome-free library that you want to use. For example:

"devDependencies": {
  ...
  "ember-fontawesome-css": "^1.0.0",
  "@fortawesome/fontawesome-free": "^5.12.1",
}

You can optionally configure the following by adding one or more of these values to your ember-cli-build.js:

"ember-fontawesome-css": {
  includeFontFiles: <true/false>
  cssFiles: <list of css file names to include>
  fontFormats: <list of font files to include, by extension>
}
  • includeFontFiles - Set this to false if you include the font files another way and don't want them to be included with this add-on.
    • Default: true
  • cssFiles - A list of CSS files to include from Font Awesome in your build. If they change the file names (or you don't need the regular fonts, for example), you can specify this.
    • Default: ['fontawesome', 'solid', 'regular', 'brands'])
  • fontFormats - A list of font files to include in your build.
    • Default: ['eot', 'svg', 'ttf', 'woff', 'woff2', 'otf']

After including the package, you should be able to rebuild your project and add a font tag such as <i class='fas fa-thumbs-up'></i> to get an icon.
