Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

ember-cli-release-tag

Build Status npm version

Easily create Git release tags for your apps and addons.

This is a modern re-imagination of ember-cli-release.

Compatibility

  • Requires Node 8 or above

Installation

ember install ember-cli-release-tag

Usage

Semver

By default, it will create version tags based on Semver.

  • ember release - Create a patch level release (e.g. v0.0.X)
  • ember release --minor - Create a minor level release (e.g. v0.X.0)
  • ember release --major - Create a major level release (e.g. vX.0.0)
  • ember release --major --prerelease='beta' - Create a new premajor version (e.g. vX.0.0-beta.0)

Date

Alternatively, you can also use a date strategy:

ember release --strategy=date

This creates a new version for the current date, e.g v19.01.15. If you have already released that day, it will append to it, e.g. v19.01.15.1.

Custom

You can also provide a custom function as strategy, in the config/release.js file. Example:

// config/release.js
module.exports = {
  async strategy(project, tags, options) {
    return await getCustomNextVersion(tags);
  }
}

Configuration

You can see all available configuration options via ember help release. You can pass configuration on the command line, or put them in the config/release.js file. These are the available options:

// config/release.js
module.exports = {
  local: false, // Do not auto-push git commits/tags
  remote: 'origin', // Remote name to push to
  tag: 'v1.1.0', // If set, use this tag instead of strategy
  annotation: '', // Additional message added to the git tag
  manifest: ['package.json'], // Adapt the version in these files
  yes: false, // If true, skip all confirmation dialogs
  strategy: 'semver', // Can be semver, date, or (async) function
  major: false, // Used for semver only
  minor: false, // Used for semver only
  prerelease: 'beta' // Used for semver only
};
