Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Doc-amd

Doc-amd library

doc.js is a small library to manipulate the DOM in any browser. We focused on the most used and common use cases to create this. This library uses amd structure.

Build Status

Why?

We needed a small footprint alternative for jquery and still have the ease-of-use for the most commonly used methods on it.

Then, we built it from scratch.

Installation

Install with Npm: npm install elo7-doc-amd

Dependencies

Doc-amd depends on an amd implementation. We suggest define-async implementation for dependency lookup. Doc-amd also depends on events-amd.

Sample:
define(['doc'], function(doc) {
	doc('button').throttle('click', function(){ ... }); //Adds an event listener for the 'click' event.
	doc('button').throttle('click', function(){ ... }, 5000); //Adds an event listener for the 'click' event, preventing other 'click' events to fire within 5 seconds
	doc('button').throttle('click', function(){ ... }, 1000, 'tracker'); //Adds an event listener for the 'click' event with 'tracker' category, aditional clicks will be ignored for 1 second.

Description:

Prevents a function from being called multiple times before a defined amount of time. Useful to prevent multiple requests.

Parameters

event: String //The event you want to

callback: Function() //The function to be called

timeout: Number //The time in ms you want the application to prevent multiple calls from being made. Default value is 1000.

eventCategory: You can add multiple 'events' of the same type (e.g: click) and use the eventCategory parameter to prevent one event from being called.

Sample:
define(['doc'], function(doc) {
	doc('button').debounce('click', function(){ ... }); //Adds an event listener for the 'click' event.
	doc('button').debounce('click', function(){ ... }, 5000); //Adds an event listener for the 'click' event, preventing 'click' events to fire before 5 seconds

	doc('button').off('click', 'tracker'); //Removes the event listener with the 'tracker' eventCategory
});

Parameters:

event: String //The event you want to trigger for your selector

define(['doc'], function(doc) {
	doc('div').scrollIntoView(); //Scroll until the first matched div appears at the top of the viewport
});

broadcast

doc.broadcast(event [, data])

note: WITHOUT selector

Description:

Dispatches a global event that can be listened using on() by multiple elements.

Important note:

If you wish to use this function in IE8, you need to use the indexOf polyfill for arrays before usage.

Array.prototype.indexOf||(Array.prototype.indexOf=function(r,t){var n;if(null==this)throw new TypeError('"this" is null or not defined');var e=Object(this),i=e.length>>>0;if(0===i)return-1;var a=+t||0;if(Math.abs(a)===1/0&&(a=0),a>=i)return-1;for(n=Math.max(a>=0?a:i-Math.abs(a),0);i>n;){if(n in e&&e[n]===r)return n;n++}return-1});

	var elements = doc('.after-me');
