Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Place preview.js in your project directory. Construct an EllipsisPreview object, passing an object as paramater containing the following properties:

  1. "div", an HTML element where the folder browser should be displayed in.
  2. "cb" (semi-optional), the callback function to be called when a layer is clicked. A default callback is provided, but please provide your own.
  3. "layer" (semi-optional), a layer object for which you want to display a preview
  4. "pathId" (semi-optional), instead of a layer object, you may also provide a pathId, in which case the layer object wil be retrieved by the package
  5. "token" (optional), the (Ellipsis) api token to be used.
  6. "styleId" (optional), the id of the style you would like to render as preview
  7. "width" (optional), the width of the preview to be generated. if none is provided, the width of the provided div is used.
  8. "height" (optional), the height of the preview to be generated. if none is provided, the height of the provided div is used.
  9. "disableCbIfNoPreview" (optional), default false, disable the callback when no preview is shown
  10. "showLayerType" (optional), default true, determines whether the type of the layer is displayed
  11. "vectorPreviewFeaturesCount" (optional), default 50, the number of features displayed for vector layers
  12. "backgroundWmsUrl" (optional), a WMS url for the background of the preview. Default is "https://ows.mundialis.de/osm/service?SERVICE=WMS&VERSION=1.1.1&REQUEST=GetMap&SRS=EPSG%3A3857&LAYERS=OSM-WMS-no-labels&STYLES=&FORMAT=image/png&DPI=96&MAP_RESOLUTION=96&FORMAT_OPTIONS=dpi:96". BBOX, WIDTH and HEIGHT parameters are added to this parameter.

Example usage

Place "ellipsis-preview.js" in the same folder as test.html and main.js. You can find ellipsis-preview.js to the right at the Github page, or click here.

test.html

<html>
  <body>
    <div id="test" style="width: 300px; height: 240px;"></div>
    <script type="module" src="main.js"></script>
  </body>
</html>

main.js

import "./ellipsis-preview.js"

let div = document.getElementById("test");

let callback = (layerobj) => {
    console.log("Clicked on layer");
    console.log(layerobj);
}

let options = {
    div: div,
    pathId: "2109c37a-d549-45dd-858e-7eddf1bd7c22", // vulcano
    cb: callback,
};

let preview = new EllipsisPreview(options);
