Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

Installation

  1. Install nodejs and npm
    • Windows: https://nodejs.org/dist/v8.2.0/node-v8.2.0-x64.msi
    • Ubuntu: curl -sL https://deb.nodesource.com/setup_8.x | sudo -E bash - && sudo apt-get install -y nodejs && sudo ln -s "$(which nodejs)" /usr/bin/node
    • Other: you probably know better
  2. Run npm install -g discord-pugbot
  3. Navigate to a folder where you would like to store configuration for the bot.
  4. Run discord-pugbot --init
  5. Go to https://discordapp.com/developers/applications/me/create
  6. Fill in the name & avatar (if you like)
  7. Create Application
  8. Create a Bot User
  9. Copy the bot's Client ID
  10. Invite the bot to your server https://discordapp.com/api/oauth2/authorize?scope=bot&permissions=8&client_id=<Client ID>
  11. Press click to reveal next to Token and copy it
  12. Open config.js and paste the Token
  13. Configure the bot to your liking
  14. discord-pugbot --run
