detach.js
detach.js is a virtualization environment for Node. It allows Node code, as well as core modules, to run in a separate 'context', with controlled access through to the real system via drivers.
detach runs code at native speeds (where native is the normal speed of Javascript running in Node), and so is faster than other solutions such as Docker and virtual machines.
Warning: detach is not designed as a completely secure virtualization system - it is probably possible to communicate between contexts, for example. Instead, detach is very useful to ensure that a system runs under the same environment on two computers, or to provide minimum overhead wrappers around core systems (e.g. a network filesystem).
Installation
Install from NPM:
npm install detach --save
Note: detach.js is not designed to run in-browser, and so may fail to run properly. Additionally, detach relies on some of Node's inner workings, thus making it impractical for the browser.
