Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

dependencaches -- Dependencies Caches for npm

Why this project

This project have the same goal of npm-cache. npm-cache is a great tool, but it need keep the compatibility with the old versions which become a burden for introducing new features, and the author do not have enough time to maintain and merge new PRs, so I just write new one from the ground.

Install

npm install -g dependencaches

Usage

dependencaches install  # try to install
dependencaches --cacheDirectory=/home/cache install  # install using /home/cache as cache directory

Limitations

  • Not support Win32
  • Currently only support npm, no bower/jspm/composer...
  • Currently only implement symlink
  • No compression

TODO

  • Recheck symlink for native (node-gyp) packages
  • Implement copy (rsync)
  • Add more commands: hash, save, restore, etc.
