Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

Daluri - React Auto Documentation Tool

Daluri is an open-source tool designed to automatically generate documentation for ReactJS codebases. It uses Storybook, inline comments, and PropTypes to document the entire codebase.

Installation

To install Daluri, clone the repository and install the dependencies:

git clone https://github.com/YOUR_USERNAME/daluri.git
cd daluri
npm install

Usage

Daluri is a CLI tool that can be run from the command line. It requires a one-time setup to configure your GitHub and OpenAI API keys.

One-Time Setup

When you run Daluri for the first time, it will prompt you to enter your GitHub Token and OpenAI API Key. These will be saved in a configuration file in your home directory.

Running the Tool ( Github )

To run Daluri, use the following command:

npx daluri github --branch <branch_name> --repo <repo_name> --owner <owner> [options]

Options

  • --branch <string>: The name of the branch to document.
  • --repo <string>: The name of the repository.
  • --owner <string>: The owner of the repository.
  • --file-limit <number>: Limit the number of files to process (default: 1).
  • --build-tool <string>: The build tool to use (e.g., webpack, vite) (default: webpack).

Example

npx daluri github --branch main --repo my-react-app --owner my-github-username --file-limit 5 --build webpack

Running the Tool ( Local )

To run Daluri, use the following command:

npx daluri local --path <path_to_project> --file-limits <number> --build-tool <string>

Options

  • --path <string>: Path to the project (default: ".")
  • --file-limit <number>: Limit the number of files to process (default: 1).
  • --build-tool <string>: The build tool to use (e.g., webpack, vite) (default: webpack).

Example

npx daluri local --path <path_to_project> --file-limits <number> --build-tool <string>

Local Deployment

To deploy locally, use the following command:

npx daluri deploy-local --hoster <hoster> --path <path_to_project>

Options

  • --hoster <string>: Hoster to deploy to (e.g., vercel)
  • --path <string>: Path to the project (default: ".")

GitHub Deployment

To deploy to GitHub, use the following command:

npx daluri deploy-github --hoster <hoster> --branch_name <branch_name> --repo_name <repo_name> --owner <owner>

Options

  • --hoster <string>: Hoster to deploy to (e.g., vercel)
  • --branch <string>: The name of the branch to document.
  • --repo <string>: The name of the repository.
  • --owner <string>: The owner of the repository.

How It Works

  1. Clone Repository: Daluri clones the specified repository and checks out the specified branch.
  2. Process Files: It processes all .jsx files in the repository, generating JSDoc comments, PropTypes, and Storybook stories.
  3. Commit and Push: Daluri commits the changes to a new branch and pushes it to the repository.
  4. Create Pull Request: Finally, it creates a pull request with the generated documentation.
