Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

Cute files

This is a node.js command line utility that turns the current working directory into a pretty online file browser, available to all computers in the local network. It is an easy way to share a folder with your office buddies.

Installation

This utility is available on npm, so installation is a breeze. Use the -g flag:

npm install -g cute-files

Usage

To use it, cd into a directory, and run cute-files with an optional port.

Examples

Make the current folder available on <yourip>:3000 on the local network:

cute-files

Make the current folder available on <yourip>:12345 on the local network:

cute-files --port 12345

Notes

Files starting with a dot are assumed to be private and are not served.
