Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

This NPM package country-province-district-munvdc provides a functionality to choose province based on country, choose district based on province and choose Mun/Vdc based on district selected.

For more, visit my blog.

NOTE: You must have to import country to use this package but other fields may differ as per your requirements.

Installation

$ npm i country-province-district-munvdc

Usage

Now you need to import the necessary components from this package.

import {
  CountryList,
  ProvinceList,
  DistrictList,
  MunVdcList,
} from "country-province-district-munvdc";

Inside your main component, type these code snippets.

const [selectedCountry, setSelectedCountry] = useState<string>("");
const [selectedProvince, setSelectedProvince] = useState<string>("");
const [selectedDistrict, setSelectedDistrict] = useState<string>("");
const [selectedMunVdc, setSelectedMunVdc] = useState<string>("");

const [selectedProvinceId, setSelectedProvinceId] = useState<number>(0);

const [selectedDistrictId, setSelectedDistrictId] = useState<number>(0);

After this, you have to create one function whose task is to console log the selected value.

  const handleSubmit = (selectedCountry: string, selectedProvince:string, selectedDistrict:string, selectedMunVdc:string) => {
    console.log({
      country: selectedCountry,
      province: selectedProvince,
      district: selectedDistrict,
      munvdc: selectedMunVdc
     });
  };

After that, put these code snippets inside the return ( <> … </> ) section.

<CountryList
   onCountrySelect={setSelectedCountry}
/>

<ProvinceList
   selectedCountry={selectedCountry}
   setSelectedProvinceId={setSelectedProvinceId}
   onProvinceSelect={setSelectedProvince}
/>

<DistrictList
   selectedProvinceId={selectedProvinceId}
   setSelectedDistrictId={setSelectedDistrictId}
   onDistrictSelect={setSelectedDistrict}
/>

<MunVdcList
   selectedDistrictId={selectedDistrictId}
   selectedProvinceId={selectedProvinceId}
   onMunVdcSelect={setSelectedMunVdc}
/>

Lastly, you need to create a button that is used to send the selected value in the backend (console in this case).

<button type="submit" onClick={() => handleSubmit(selectedCountry, selectedProvince, selectedDistrict, selectedMunVdc)}>
  Submit
</button>

Here’s complete code for implementing this feature.

"use client";
import React, { useState } from "react";
import {
  CountryList,
  ProvinceList,
  DistrictList,
  MunVdcList,
} from "country-province-district-munvdc";

const ConditionalSelect= () => {
  const [selectedCountry, setSelectedCountry] = useState<string>("");
  const [selectedProvince, setSelectedProvince] = useState<string>("");
  const [selectedDistrict, setSelectedDistrict] = useState<string>("");
  const [selectedMunVdc, setSelectedMunVdc] = useState<string>("");

  const [selectedProvinceId, setSelectedProvinceId] = useState<number>(0);

  const [selectedDistrictId, setSelectedDistrictId] = useState<number>(0);

  const handleSubmit = (selectedCountry: string, selectedProvince:string, selectedDistrict:string, selectedMunVdc:string) => {
    console.log({
      country: selectedCountry,
      province: selectedProvince,
      district: selectedDistrict,
      munvdc: selectedMunVdc
     });
  };

  return (
    <>
      <CountryList onCountrySelect={setSelectedCountry} />

      <ProvinceList
        selectedCountry={selectedCountry}
        setSelectedProvinceId={setSelectedProvinceId}
        onProvinceSelect={setSelectedProvince}
      />

      <DistrictList
        selectedProvinceId={selectedProvinceId}
        setSelectedDistrictId={setSelectedDistrictId}
        onDistrictSelect={setSelectedDistrict}
      />

      <MunVdcList
        selectedDistrictId={selectedDistrictId}
        selectedProvinceId={selectedProvinceId}
        onMunVdcSelect={setSelectedMunVdc}
      />

      <button type="submit" onClick={() => handleSubmit(selectedCountry, selectedProvince, selectedDistrict, selectedMunVdc)}>
        Submit
      </button>
    </>
  );
};

export default ConditionalSelect;

Let me also provide a bit more clarity on the feature for cases where you only want to implement country and province.

Here’s the code snippets for this case.

"use client";
import React, { useState } from "react";
import {
  CountryList,
  ProvinceList,
} from "country-province-district-munvdc";

const ConditionalSelect= () => {
  const [selectedCountry, setSelectedCountry] = useState<string>("");
  const [selectedProvince, setSelectedProvince] = useState<string>("");

  const [selectedProvinceId, setSelectedProvinceId] = useState<number>(0);

  const handleSubmit = (selectedCountry: string, selectedProvince:string) => {
    console.log({
      country: selectedCountry,
      province: selectedProvince
     });
  };

  return (
    <>
      <CountryList onCountrySelect={setSelectedCountry} />

      <ProvinceList
        selectedCountry={selectedCountry}
        setSelectedProvinceId={setSelectedProvinceId}
        onProvinceSelect={setSelectedProvince}
      />

      <button type="submit" onClick={() => handleSubmit(selectedCountry, selectedProvince)}>
        Submit
      </button>
    </>
  );
};

export default ConditionalSelect;
