Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

IBM MobileFirst Foundation Live Update SDK plug-in

To add IBM MobileFirst Foundation Live Update capabilities to an existing Cordova application, you add the cordova-plugin-mfp-liveupdate plug-in to your application.

The Live Update Cordova plug-in lets you query runtime configuration properties and features which you set in the Live Update Settings screen in the MobileFirst Operations Console. With Live Update integrated in your application you can implement feature toggling and more.

To learn more on how to use Live Update review this tutorial.

Installation

Add this plug-in in the same way that you add any other Cordova plug-in to your application.
For example, with the Cordova CLI type:

cordova create MyNewPRoject com.mycompany.name
cd MyNewPRoject
cordova plugin add cordova-plugin-mfp-liveupdate@latest
cordova platform add android

(or cordova plugin add http://github.com/mfpdev/mfp-live-update-cordova-plugin to get latest).

As this plugin depends on cordova-plugin-mfp logger, it will automatically download it too in case your Cordova application does not have it already.

Supported platforms

  • Android v4.1 and above
  • iOS v8.0 and above
  • Browser

Configuration In MobileFirst Operation Console

  1. Add a scope mapping for liveupdate.mobileclient in MobileFirst Operations Console → [your application] → Security tab → Scope-Elements Mapping. Map it to an empty string if you want to use the default protection or to a security check if you're using one.

    Learn more about scope mapping

  2. You can add schemas and features from the MobileFirst Operations Console → [your application] → Live Update Settings

Once you've setup schemas and features you can start use the client side API.

Sample Usages of the API

    LiveUpdateManager.obtainConfiguration({
            useClientCache: false
        }, function(configuration) {
            console.log('ObtainConfiguration succeeded. Property1: ' + JSON.stringify(configuration.properties.property1));
        },
        function(err) {
            console.log("ObtainConfiguration failed with error:\n" + JSON.stringify(err));
        });
