Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

cordova-plugin-firebase-auth-google

A super awesome plugin that let's you login into you app Firebase and a Google account.

How do I install it?

If you're like me and using Cordova CLI:

cordova plugin add cordova-plugin-firebase-auth-google

or

phonegap local plugin add cordova-plugin-app-name --variable APP_NAME="Look <Ma> I Got Spaces and Stuff!"

How do I use it?

  1. Download the google-services.json and/or GoogleService-Info.plist for you application from the Firebase console.
  2. Copy the files from previous step to root of your project. If you don't do this plugin's hook won't be able to copy them to the appropriate locations and bad things will happen at runtime. So make you do this.
  3. Now you're ready to write some code.
const fbAuth = new FirebaseAuth({
    allowDomains: ['blakgeek.com'] // optionally restrict the domains that can used to log into the app.
})

How do I sign in

// on succesful sign in this event will be fired on the window (fancy name huh?)
window.addEventListener('signinsuccess', function (event) {

    console.log('Wassup?');
    // the detail property of the event will contain the information about the user
    // ("token", "id", "name", "email", "id", "photoUrl")
    console.dir(event.detail);
}, false);

// on an error during sign in this even will raised
window.addEventListener('signinfailure', function (event) {

    console.error('Oh snap');
    // the detail property will contain the error details
    // (code, message and optionally the domain)
    // domain is included if the domain of user's email was not in the allowDomain list
    console.error(event.detail)
}, false);

// sign in by showing a UI
fbAuth.signIn();

// attempt to sign in without a UI (silently)
fbAuth.signIn(true);

How do I sign out?

window.addEventListener('signoutsuccess', function (event) {

    console.log('Holla!')
}, false);
fbAuth.signOut();

How do I get the user's token?

fbAuth.getToken().then(token => {
    console.log(token);
}).catch(err => {
    console.error(err);
});
// or old school
fbAuth.getToken(token => {
    console.log(token);
}, err => {
    console.error(err);
});
