Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Amazon Ads Cordova Plugin

Add support for Amazon Mobile Ads to your Cordova and Phonegap based mobile apps.

How do I install it?

  • If you're like me and using CLI:
cordova plugin add https://github.com/blakgeek/cordova-plugin-amazonmobileads

or

phonegap local plugin add https://github.com/blakgeek/cordova-plugin-amazonmobileads

WARNING: iOS Cordova Registry

Installing this plugin directly from Cordova Registry results in Xcode using a broken AmazonAd.framework, this is because the current publish procedure to NPM breaks symlinks CB-6092. Please install the plugin through through the github url or re-add the AmazonAd.framework manually.

How do I use it?

document.addEventListener('deviceready', function() {

	window.amazonads = new AmazonMobileAds();

	// get things started by passing in your app key
	amazonads.init('<your app key>', function() {
		console.log('super dope it worked');
	}, function(err) {
		console.error(['oh crap', err]);
	});

	// show a banner at the top the screen and resize the webview to make space for it
	amazonads.showBannerAd(true, true, function() {
		console.log('oh snap I got a banner at the top');
	}, function(err) {
		console.error(['oh crap', err]);
	});

	// show a banner at the bottom of the screen and overlay the webview. overlaying is useful if the space the banner has already been accounted for
	amazonads.showBannerAd(false, false, function() {
		console.log('what what see the banner at the bottom');
	}, function(err) {
		console.error(['oh crap', err]);
	});

	// hide the banner but the keep the where it was occupied
	amazonads.hideBannerAd(false, function() {
		console.log('now you see me now you do not');
	}, function(err) {
		console.error(['oh crap', err]);
	});

	// hide the banner and release the space that it occupied
	amazonads.hideBannerAd(true, function() {
		console.log('now you see me now you do not');
	}, function(err) {
		console.error(['oh crap', err]);
	});

	// make space at the top of the screen for a banner that will be displayed later
	// this will resize the webview
    amazonads.claimBannerAdSpace(true);

	// make space at the bottom of the screen for a banenr that will be displayed later.
	// if not argument is passed it will default to making the space at the bottom
	amazonads.claimBannerAdSpace(false);

    // release the space occupied the banner
    amazonads.releaseBannerAdSpace();

	// show and interstitial
	amazonads.showInterstitialAd(function() {
		console.log('now that is a big ole interstitial');
	}, function(err) {
		console.error(['oh crap', err]);
	});

	// enable test mode without ads
	amazonads.enableTestMode(function() {
		console.log('testing 1 2 1 2');
	}, function(err) {
		console.error('this will never ever happen');
	});

	// enable test mode without ads
	amazonads.disableTestMode(function() {
		console.log('shit just got real');
	}, function(err) {
		console.error('this will never ever happen');
	});

	// enable test mode without ads
	amazonads.enableLogging(function() {
		console.log('messages are being logged');
	}, function(err) {
		console.error('this will never ever happen');
	});

	// enable test mode without ads
	amazonads.enableTestMode(function() {
		console.log('no mo loggin');
	}, function(err) {
		console.error('this will never ever happen');
	});
}, false);
