Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

*This Fork project claudiaExpress to add a bit feature

claudiaExpress

Express like middleware support for claudia API builder. The module is designed for developers who come from the express framework but want to try out AWS Lambda. ClaudiaJS with Claudia API builder is an easy way to start.

Build Status

####Features:

  • middleware support
  • 4 param error handler middlewares
  • tree like routing
  • middleware support on "use" method
router.use('more/', mw1, mw2, endpoints, mw3, mw4);

####Install:

npm install claudiaexpress

###Usage:

index.js

const ApiBuilder = require('claudia-api-builder');
const api = new ApiBuilder();
const Router = require('claudiaexpress').Router;
const router = Router(api);

const routes = require('./routes.js');

router.use('v1/', routes);

module.exports = router.bootstrap();

routes.js
const Router = require('claudiaexpress').Router;
const router = Router();
const endpoints = require('path to your endpoints');

router.get('/hello', (req, res, next) => {
    res.end('Hello World');
  });
router.use('more/', endpoints); // these should be accessed through url/v1/more/...

###Middleware parameters: req

  • the request object provided by claudia API builder

res

  • res.end(data) will send data, default status code is 200
  • res.fail(err, status) will send error response, default status code is 500
  • res.status(status) will set the status of the message you send at res.end();
  • res.headers is an object, to add a header use res.headers.MyHeader = 'ASD';
  • res.sendStatus(status) will send a response without response body with given status (or 200, if status is not given)

next()

  • will call the next middleware when called without parameter, will call error handler when called with parameter.

[err]

  • error object used in the error handler middlewares.

###Testing: npm test Runs all the mocha tests in the ./test folder.

###TODOS:

  • upgrade response object to be more express like
  • add istanbul and more tests for 100% coverage
  • upgrade router so it can be used either with the middlewares feature, or the classic claudiaJS handler
