Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

cloudsky

A command Line weather forecast app, created in Node.js. Developed from the scratch (no external library is used).

Features

  • Plug and Play (No initial co-ordinate or api-key is needed).
  • Provide current weather( within an hour), alongside up to seven days of prediction.
  • Lightweight and economical in size due to not using any external library.
  • Beginner friendly help page.

Installation

To install from default npm registry

npm install --global cloudsky

To install from source code

First clone the repo

git clone https://github.com/marufHasanQ/cloudsky.git
cd cloudsky

then globally install project with npm

npm install --global

Usage

To get current weather and forecast of next seven days

weather

prediction

To get available options

weather --help

CLI options

--fields, -f

Adds parameter fields to the prediction data

Example:

weather -f apparent_temperature_min 

available values for the options | Parameter | Description | | :-------- | :------------------------- | | rain_sum | Sum of daily rain. | | precipation_sum | Sum of daily precipitation (including rain, showers and snowfall)| | snowfall_sum | Sum of daily snowfall |

--past_days, -pd

Sets the starting day for the prediction.

Example:

weather -pd 1

available values for the options | Parameter | Description | | :-------- | :------------------------- | | 1 | Start the prediction one day before the currnet date | | 2 | Start the prediction two days before the currnet date |

--temperature_unit, -tu

changes the unit of the fields related to temperature.

Example:

weather -tu celsius

available values for the options | Parameter | Description | | :-------- | :------------------------- | | celsius | Sets temperature unit to celsius| | fahrenheit | Sets temperature unit to fahrenheit |

--windspeed_unit, -wu

Changes the units which are related to windspeed.

Example:

weather -wu kmh 

available values for the options | Parameter | Description | | :-------- | :------------------------- | | kmh | Sets the windspeed unit to kmh, this is default | | mph | Sets the windspeed unit to mph | | ms | Sets the windspeed unit to ms | | kn | Sets the windspeed unit to kn |
