Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

changelog-from-files

This tiny package aimed to avoid regular CHANGELOG file merge conflicts caused by using the git flow.

The idea is to create a separate file for each change and then combine the changes from each of them into the text changelog file.

example

Check the ./example directory and run npm run example to see how it works.

how to use

Run

npx changelog-from-files \
  unreleased-path <UNRELEASED_FOLDER_PATH> \
  changelog-path <CHANGELOG_FILE_PATH> \
  unreleased-section <UNRELEASED_SECTION> \
  ignored-files <FILE_NAMES_TO_IGNORE>

Default values:

UNRELEASED_FOLDER_PATH = "unreleased"
CHANGELOG_FILE_PATH = "CHANGELOG.md"
UNRELEASED_SECTION = "## [Unreleased]"
FILE_NAMES_TO_IGNORE = ".gitkeep,.gitignore"
