Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Introduction

CAD Exchanger Web Toolkit is set of JavaScript libraries to create, explore, analyze and visualize CAD models.

The Toolkit is used as an underlying engine by CAD Exchanger Cloud Solution (cloud.cadexchanger.com). CAD Exchanger Web Toolkit can also be used by software vendors to integrate into their custom applications to support CAD formats of interest.

Toolkit libraries

The Toolkit consists of three libraries:

  1. Core - contains core classes required for CAD Exchanger data model. Depends on pako.js (v1.10.0) library.
  2. Full - contains core and visualization classes. Depends on pako.js (v1.10.0) and three.js (r105) libraries.
  3. Three - contains additional classes allowed convert CAD Exchanger data model into three.js entities. Depends on core and three.js (r105) libraries.

Core and Full libraries are provided in two forms:

  1. Bundled - library with injected external dependencies. There are no additional libraries required.

    <script src="/build/prod/assets/cadex.core.bundle.js"></script>
  2. Minified - library without injected external dependencies. Requires dependent libraries to be loaded beforehand.

    <script src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/npm/[email protected]/dist/pako.min.js"></script>
    <script src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/npm/[email protected]/build/three.min.js"></script>
    <script src="/build/prod/assets/cadex.min.js"></script>

Three library is provided in minified version only.

Examples

Examples must be run in Node, as they need access to local files via HTTP request.

npm run examples

Then open http://localhost:8000/examples/ url in the browser. Pre-prepared model can be found in the examples/models/native folder.

The most recent examples are also available online.

Custom models

Before a custom model can be visualized it should be converted to CAD Exchanger's CDXFB format specifically adapted for browser.

There are two ways to perform this conversion:

  • Using CAD Exchanger Cloud API
  • Using CAD Exchanger CLI
    • Use cdxfb file extension for export

      ExchangerConv.exe -i myfile.jt -e myfile.cdxfb -s settings.ini

This command creates a folder named myfile.cdxfb containing all the model's data.

Note: CAD Exchanger uses random GUIDs for sub-file name generation, so different runs of this conversion command will produce different sets of files.

    • Model can be exported only partially to reduce its size or skip unneeded data. This can be achieved by specifying which data needs to be exported in a settings file. For more information about CLI settings please refer to CLI settings file.

    • Export to CDXFB requires a separate license. Please contact [email protected] to request an evaluation.
