the surveillance network website is part of the world-wide antimalarial resistance network. the surveillance network includes sites from 39 countries, representing all who regions. we then used a review of the bibliographical information on each site to distinguish research sites from more regular surveillance sites.


ideally, a treatment for trichomoniasis should be short-course, provide reliable and sustained release of drugs, minimize any long-term complications from topical therapy, and be easy to administer. compliance may be impaired due to the need to use medication for an extended period and the multiple doses needed for treatment. to combat compliance issues, formulations should be able to be administered to the cervix in the presence of abundant, naturally secreted cervical mucus. additionally, the medication should be nontoxic. this report describes the development of the novel dual-release vaginal ring, which provides a sustained, dose-controlled release of metronidazole and tmp-smx to the vaginal cavity for up to 5 days and is rapidly removable from the body. this formulation was designed to maintain sufficient local and systemic drug concentrations to effectively treat trichomoniasis.
