Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Antara - Akshada Monitoring Tool

About the Partner Organization

The Antara Foundation works on maternal and child health and nutrition, in partnership with the government of Rajasthan. This entails that we haven’t instituted any parallel system of service delivery but work on strengthening existing system, for benefits to be sustainable. This is done by improving

  • skills of frontline workers
  • infrastructure, equipment and supplies at facilities, among other interventions.

Background

They primarily work in Jhalawar and Baran districts of Rajasthan, each of which is divided into 6-7 blocks. Each block has around 50 health sub-centres, catering to around 200 villages. Services are provided at the grassroots by 3 women; Auxillary Nurse and Midwife (ANM), at the Sub Centre level, Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) and Anganwadi Worker (AWW) at the village level. Please refer to our website for detailed information on our work, focussing on our flagship Akshada program.

Scope

DataKindBLR has partnered with Antara to help build a custom data dashboard in our 2017 Sprint(April-June) to better track maternal and child health indicators ideally on a district map by:

  • Developing easily readable snapshots of one time data
    • Eg. Profiles of Health sub-centres on infrastructure, utilities, equipment and suppl
      • Classify sub centers as per pre-defined indicators
      • Sub center Gap analysis (needs to be defined)
      • Update on higher risk pregnancies (according to a formula)
  • Developing easily readable and actionable dashboards to track changes in periodically updated data
    • Eg. Dynamic dashboards tracking change across 5 indicators (updated monthly) for select sub-centres

Approach

  • We have recieved detailed data dictionary from Antara and would work on a dummy data for the scope of this collaboration.
  • We are working to generate village boundaries for Rajasthan so that we can visualize these indicators on Map.
  • We would be working to fork another DataKind Project, CBGA Story Generator and furbish for our scope in subsequent weekends.
