Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Description

A powerful logger for Texts and objects (not for functions!).

Instructions

npm install
grunt

# Create release version
grunt dist

Log level order

OFF: -> 0
LEVEL_1: -> 300 # FINEST (lowest value)
LEVEL_2: -> 400 # FINER
LEVEL_3: -> 500 # FINE
DEBUG: -> 700   # CONFIG
INFO: -> 800    # INFO
WARN: -> 900    # WARNING
ERROR: -> 1000  # SEVERE

Recommended usage of log levels

  • OFF — If you don't want to receive any log messages
  • LEVEL_1 — For function calls (right at the beginning of a function)
  • LEVEL_2 — For callbacks of a function call (success or error)
  • LEVEL_3 — For conclusions from values and states (sentences like "Because the number is 5 we have...")
  • INFO — Info that could be relevant to end users (like IDs which they need to tell to customer support)
  • WARN — Errors in an application which reduce the user experience
  • ERROR — Error in an application which destroy the user experience

Usage

	@logger.log 'Log text with priority and objects.', @logger.levels.WARN, object, object
	@logger.log 'Log in whatever order you want.', object, @logger.levels.INFO, object, object

  # Use aliases for different log levels
  @logger.info 'Log text as info.'
  @logger.debug 'Log text as debug.'
  @logger.error 'Log text as error.'
  @logger.warn 'Log text as warning.'

  # Only log steps which have a minimum log level of info
  @logger.level = @logger.levels.INFO
  @logger.log 'This will not be shown.'
  @logger.log 'This will...!', @logger.levels.INFO
  @logger.log 'And this too!', @logger.levels.WARN
  @logger.log @logger.levels.WARN', Even this!'

  # Don't show any log messages
  @logger.level = @logger.levels.OFF
Another example
@logger = new z.util.Logger 'z.auth.AuthRepository', name_length: 54
@logger.set_domains
  'localhost': @logger.levels.LEVEL_1
  'appspot.com': @logger.levels.LEVEL_1
  'wire.com': @logger.levels.INFO
