Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Nativescript audio player apple android

npm

@voicethread/nativescript-audio-player

This plugin provides an audio player for Android and iOS that supports playback of both local files and remote URL audio files. For Android, MediaPlayer will internally cache remote files after first prepare/play. For iOS, the plugin will download and cache remote files on first prepare/play.

Contents

Installation

npm install @voicethread/nativescript-audio-player --save

OR

ns plugin add @voicethread/nativescript-audio-player

Usage

The best way to understand how to use the plugin is to study the demo app included in this repo. You can see how the plugin is used in a TypeScript application by looking at apps/demo/src/plugin-demos/nativescript-audio-player.ts.

  1. Import the plugin and create a player instance.
import { AudioPlayer, AudioPlayerOptions } from '@voicethread/nativescript-audio-player';
this.player = new AudioPlayer();
this.player.on(AudioPlayer.completeEvent, () => {
        console.log('playback complete');
    });
  1. Play an audio file.
protected _playOptions: AudioPlayerOptions = {
    audioFile: knownFolders.currentApp().path + '/audio/example.m4a';,
    loop: false,
    audioMixing: false,
    completeCallback: async result => {
        console.log('AudioPlayer - Audio file playback complete.', result);
    },
    errorCallback: errorObject => {
        console.error('AudioPlayer error!', JSON.stringify(errorObject));
    },
    infoCallback: infoObject => {
        console.info('AudioPlayer info: ', JSON.stringify(infoObject));
    },
};
this.player.prepareAudio(this._playOptions).then(status => {
    if (status) {
        this.player.play();
    } else {
        console.log('ERROR! Unable to prepare audio!');
    }
});

NOTE: If you want to play an HTTP URL, you'll also need to make some adjustments to your application to allow unsecure connections or URL access will fail silently. For iOS, add the following to your app's Info.plist:

<key>NSAppTransportSecurity</key>
<dict>
    <key>NSAllowsArbitraryLoads</key>
    <true />
</dict>

For Android, ensure your application tag in App_Resources/Android/src/main/AndroidManifest.xml has the following:

android:usesCleartextTraffic="true"
