Validate content in ArcGIS Online

Background

The ArcGIS Living Atlas is a collection of curated GIS content. Content submitted for inclusion in the Living Atlas is curated by Esri Cartographers and Data Scientist from around the world.

Content in the Living Atlas consists of items in ArcGIS Online. Items are nominated by users for inclusion in the Living Atlas.

During the nomination process items are first validated and scored. Each item is scored by the completeness of the item and its metadata. The score helps to identify key characteristics of your item which will make sure others can find and understand the item.

The details page of an item in ArcGIS Online provides information about the item being shared, along with additional information to help others find and use the item. The goal is to create a well-documented item description page so that others will understand what they have found, where the data is from, and what someone can expect to see when opening the item.

Validation

This library validates and scores an item's metadata and the item's owner metadata.

Scoring

This library offers configurable scoring that is used to score the items. This score is used by the Curators and item owners to determine its potential for being included in the Living Atlas. Items must score a minimum threshold of 80/100 to be eligible for nomination to the Living Atlas.
