Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Tech Jobs

This is a list of technology jobs (Software Engineer, Data Scientist, Product Manager). Please visit this website if you just want to check out the list: https://techcareer.io/jobs.

Raw data is stored in data.json in this project. The following information is for people who want to contribute by adding new companies and jobs to the list.

How to use this dataset?

We publish the data to our website: https://techcareer.io/jobs. We plan to add filter and search soon.

How to contribute?

If you company is hiring, you can add your job openings. You can do this in two ways:

  1. Fill out this form and submit. We will review submissions and add the information you provide to our dataset. (All submission data is visible to everybody.)
  2. Create a Pull Request to update data.json. We will review your Pull Request and then merge your change.

Data Structure

If you plan to make a Pull Request, please take a look at the schema of the JSON data structure.

First of all, the JSON is a dictionary with company names as keys. Companies are sorted alphabetically.

{
  "Company A": {},
  "Company B": {},
  "Company Z": {}
}

Within each company company, it's a structure like this:

"Company X": {
  "url": "https://...", /* Optional URL to the job listing page of the company */
  "jobs": {
    "softwareEngineer": { /* Optional if the company doesn't hire Software Engineer */
      "intern": { /* Optional if there's no intern opening */
        "available": true, /* Required boolean */
        "url": "https://..." /* Optional URL to the intern job page */
      },
      "newGrad": { /* Optional if there's no newGrad opening */
        "available": true, /* Required boolean */
        "url": "https://..." /* Optional URL to the new-grad job page */
      },
      "senior": { /* Optional if there's no senior opening */
        "available": true, /* Required boolean */
        "url": "https://..." /* Optional URL to the senior job page */
      },
      "manager": { /* Optional if there's no manager opening */
        "available": true, /* Required boolean */
        "url": "https://..." /* Optional URL to the manager job page */
      }
    },
    "dataScientist": {
      /* Same structure as softwareEngineer */
    },
    "productManager": {
      /* Same structure as softwareEngineer */
    }
  }
}

If you are adding a new company, you can use the following template and then delete unused keys:

"Company X": {
  "url": "https://...",
  "jobs": {
    "softwareEngineer": {
      "intern": {
        "available": false,
        "url": "https://..."
      },
      "newGrad": {
        "available": false,
        "url": "https://..."
      },
      "senior": {
        "available": false,
        "url": "https://..."
      },
      "manager": {
        "available": false,
        "url": "https://..."
      }
    },
    "dataScientist": {
      "intern": {
        "available": false,
        "url": "https://..."
      },
      "newGrad": {
        "available": false,
        "url": "https://..."
      },
      "senior": {
        "available": false,
        "url": "https://..."
      },
      "manager": {
        "available": false,
        "url": "https://..."
      }
    },
    "productManager": {
      "intern": {
        "available": false,
        "url": "https://..."
      },
      "newGrad": {
        "available": false,
        "url": "https://..."
      },
      "senior": {
        "available": false,
        "url": "https://..."
      },
      "manager": {
        "available": false,
        "url": "https://..."
      }
    }
  }
}
